This is my attempt of a 3d model from a tutorial site: polygonblog.com

Below is the picture I used to recreate the 3d model above.

Further Development - Extra Sketches of Jake & Edward

Tuesday, 15 November 2011

The sketches below, show some of, Jake and Edward's typical emotions and movements.

As part of the USPs, the player gets to exchange Jake's clothing at the end of each level. Below are three  rudimentary sketches of three of different outfits Jake wears in their respective levels. For example, in
 Level 1 - 'Fantasy Land' - Jake wears pyjamas; in Level 3 - Mystical Waters - Jake wears a diving-suit and in Level 4 - 'Armoured Knights' - Jake wears a suit-of-armour.

There are however, six levels and if I have time, I shall sketch the remaining outfits.

This is a rough drawing of a turn-around, which can be manipulated in any 3D program, thus creating a 3D version of the protagonist, Jake.

Below is the result of manipulating the above sketch in Photoshop. I am not really happy with it, mainly because I am struggling with the use of colours in the program, but I'm sure over time I will overcome this.

Below, Jake in different costumes required to navigate some of the different levels of Jake's Adventures.

A Wine Glass in 3D

Saturday, 12 November 2011

This is my second attempt at creating a 3D wine glass by using the lathe feature in 3ds Max.

Not quite as successful as the bowl, but happy with it all the same.

A Bowl in 3D

This is my second attempt at creating a 3D bowl by using the lathe feature in 3ds Max.

I am much happier with this attempt.

Wine Glasses and Bowls in 3D

Friday, 11 November 2011

This is just a tester.

To create 3D wine glasses and bowls in 3ds Max, I had to rotate a spline around the axis each of the selected vertexes (apexes), using the 'Lathe' feature.

Not quite what I expected, but I shall keep on trying.

Chairs Rendered in 3ds Max and Edited in Photoshop

Wednesday, 9 November 2011

I was set the task to recreate the following chairs using both 3ds Max and Photoshop.

These were fantastic pieces to work on, especially the second chair, with the damage under the front of the seat.

The following  chairs have not worked out how I initially envisaged  them to. But, practise makes perfect, so I shall give it another go.

I really enjoyed creating the chairs this time, and in half the time it took to me to do the previous two.

One issue I did struggle with, was recreating the the stressed wood-effect and I also had problems with the colour scheme.

If anyone has any pointers for this, I would really appreciate it.

Setting up Templates in a Max Scene to Model From.

Saturday, 5 November 2011

My first attempt to model a Trout from a Max scene.

I am happy with the front, top and side-view of this model, but not having a picture of a front-facing Trout, I found myself working blind, hence the odd looking face.

This is my second attempt to model a Trout from a Max scene. Although not perfect by any means, I am much happier with the overall shape. I don't think the colour is right yet though!

Character Design - A Cursed Human

Tuesday, 1 November 2011

Adopted into a rich family as young child, this poor, cursed human was set to inherit everything. However, his step-brother, well versed in Pagan Witchcraft and Necromancy, had different ideas. Soon after his adoptive mother died, his step-brother kills him and condemns his soul to Hell.

However, Satan, who is after the cursed soul's step-brother, sends him back to earth as a Demon, with a view to sending his step-brother to Hell in his place.
